This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the psychological aspects related to foster care for a temporary period. Firstly, it describes the position of this type of care in the system of foster care in the Czech Republic and it also defines this type of care in detail. Furthermore, it deals with important psychological connections, such as contradiction between professionalism and parenthood, the topic of short-term duration of this type of care and psychic needs of a child, especially the need of an open future and positive identity. It also emphasizes the issue of attachment and, at last but not least, psychological aspects from the view of a foster parent for a temporary period. The aim of the thesis is to identify and describe the psychological aspects and to connect certain facts and figures with a proposal of our own qualitative research. The exploratory aim is to find out whether there are any specific aspects or expressions in which the children who spent the first year of their lives in temporary foster care will differ from children who spent the first year of their life in a different type of care.
